Casting begins for a live action Aqua Teen episode
If you or someone you know looks, acts or dresses like Carl, the loveable, hairy scamp of a neighbor of the Aqua Teen Hunger Force, then… well, I’m sorry to hear that.
But there is a silver lining!
Fat, balding, sweat pant wearing, sexually frustrated classic rock enthusiasts of all ages are invited to audition to play Carl in an upcoming live action episode of Aqua Teen Hunger Force!
!!!!!!!!!
Simply go HERE and upload a video of yourself doing your best Carl impersonation before December 1st, and be sure to check out the competition while you’re there.
(Mustaches and vaguely Jerseyan accents are not required, though they are strongly encouraged.)
We sat down with Stephen Christian and Deon Rexroat of the rock band “Anberlin” at the Hollywood Avalon to talk to them about their latest album, “New Surrender”, and their move to a bigger label. We also got some insight into their opinions regarding music downloading, the state of the music industry and what goes on backstage… Check out the video and see for yourself!
“The Scoop” is part of a new regularly occurring interview show, only on CraveOnline!
Now I’m not usually one to advocate cock-rock bands like Buckcherry, (even if they did once do a totally sweet cover of “Anything, Anything” by Dramarama) but one thing that I am an advocate of is titties in videos. After all, music videos have always banked on sexy babes to sell the band, that’s nothing new. And now that MTV doesn’t show videos any more, there’s nothing stopping sleazy rock bands from telling the girls to just go ahead and take off their goddamn tops already, amirite? It’s only going to be seen on the Internet anyway, so why not? Check out the X-rated video for Buckcherry’s “Too Drunk to Fuck” right here, which I can assure you is not a cover or of the old Dead Kennedy’s song. But be warned that, like the Hollywood Undead video posted last week, it is totally NSFW!
If you’ve ever been on MySpace, you’ve probably at some point heard mention of the “Hollywood Undead”, a band that has over 41 million song plays on the site and sells shit-tons of merch despite the fact that their debut album doesn’t come out until September ‘08 and they just played their first ever live show less than a month ago. In their new video for the song “Undead”, prolific music video director Jonas Akerlund has been employed to produce the most depraved music video any of us may have ever seen, a brilliant marketing ploy that is sure to generate an obscene amount of parental outrage/media attention/astronomical record sales. Check the video out here, but be warned, it’s pretty graphic/awesome!
Live at the “Grave to the Golden Gate” Olympic Zombie Marathon
By Jeremy Azevedo
Every 100 years, on the eve of the Dark Solstice… when the moon is aligned with the Ancient Pyramid of Soth-Toggoth the Messenger and the sun is blotted out from the sky by his hoary Master from the Forgotten Dimension Beyond Time’s evil influence…
…The dead shall rise from their grave and participate in a marathon in sunny San Francisco, known as the “Grave to the Golden Gate” Zombie Marathon! KTIT News Channel 5 is on the scene to document the occasion.
Punk rock is a funny genre of music in that it projects themes of inherent outsiderness and outright anarchy, while at the same time demanding almost complete and total adherence to a set of “rules” imposed by formative bands nearly thirty years ago. Thankfully, “Against Me!” is quite possibly the new “Clash” for this generation. They are one of the very few “punk” bands that manages to appeal to both the purist and the popular audience without compromising their style in any way.
It’s no accident that their new album is entitled “New Wave”, as they represent a movement that demands more accountability from it’s musicians and also it’s fans. Instead of bitching about how “these bands all sound the same” or “those bands are all selling out”, Against Me! and their followers are doing something about it, making and supporting music that is both meaningful and enjoyable, and that raises the bar for all those that follow suit.
Check out this exclusive video of Against Me! playing the titular song from their new album “New Wave”, out now on Sire records:
