A slick remake of a popular spoof spy series.
Steve Carell reprises his “dumb guy” role as Maxwell Smart, in this remake of the popular 1960’s spy show “Get Smart”. Also starring is Anne Hathaway as Maxwell’s sexy partner, Agent 99, and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as super-spy Agent 23.
The plot revolves around Smart and Agent 99’s mission to thwart the evil crime syndicate known as KAOS’s latest scheme for world domination. The list of guest stars reads like a who’s who of awesome character actors of the day: David Koechner, Alan Arkin and Bill Murray all make appearances in the film. On top of this, they films producers got the director of photography from “Dances With Wolves”, the costume designer from “Titanic” and the visual effects artist from “Jurassic Park” to help overcome the TV remake stigma whilst adding a dash of Oscar (or at least the Golden Globes) bait to the comedy formula.
