Datarock on their new album, Red, and tacos!

Welcome to “Taco the Town”, the most delicious interview show on the Interwebs!

Because we accidently flooded our studio putting on a live theater version of the classic film “Point Break”, we’ll be talking to famous musicians, authors, friendly ghosts, professional wrestlers, Muppets, actors and models in the one place that everyone can agree on: The Taco Stand!

Today we’ll be talking to members of the immensely popular Norwegian electronic group Datarock, who we were delighted to discover are almost as big fans of the taco as we are! Bassist and drummer T-Man and L.A. Gear chowed down with us in the Mobile Taco Party Van before their show in LA so we could discuss their new album, Red, their love of tacos, whether or not they are from the future, gangs, video games, Norwegian babes and why they don’t just record their songs in Spanish. Check it all out right here, exclusively on CraveOnline!

BFT destroys Bon Jovi on Guitar Hero: World Tour

Bedtime For Toys is one of the hottest bands in the universe right now (or more specifically, in Koreatown, LA), and has been featured in countless magazines, videos, and creepy fan-fiction novellas! Despite this fact, they still took a break from their busy schedule of bein’ rad and working on their new album to come down and play some Guitar Hero World Tour with us. True Story!

Bedtime For Toys is competing to win the contest that’s running at http://www.guitarheroauditions.com/. The winner gets to be made into a playable character in the game, as well as a chance to meet the the developers of the game and get their ass mercilessly pwned by them! Yay! Check them out doing “Living on a Prayer” better than Jon Bon Jovi himself:

Don’t forget to vote for Bedtime For Toys, or if you think you are hot stuff or whatever, by all means, upload your own pic or video. It won’t be as good, but your mom will probably tell you that yours is the best one anyway (she may even mean it when she says it; moms are masters of self-delusion). And if you have any friends, who knows, they might even help you cheat!

Also be sure to check out this crazy video with the Boombox Ninjas!

Holy crap! Another video with a HOT CHICK in it!

November 2008 Free MP3 Roundup 0

Dilated Peoples, Michael Franti & Spearhead, more!

By Jeremy Azevedo
You’re in luck, because this months free MP3s are so rad, it’s like Christmas came early this year!

Or, you know, Hannaukau… or Kwanza or whatever, I don’t know. What do Scientologists celebrate? Thetan day?

(Sigh…)

It really doesn’t matter, never mind. You get the point. If I had to assign a visual reference to these songs, it would be this picture of Robocop Riding a unicorn:

What more do you really need to know?

Artist: Mindless Self Indulgence
Song: Never Wanted to Dance

Mindless Self Indulgence has been one of the premiere punk/electronica groups for over ten years now… partly because they’re one of the only punk/electronica groups anyone ha ever heard of, but also due to their incredibly awesome live performance and aggressively offensive lyrical content.

Never Wanted to Dance

Artist: Dilated Peoples
Song: The Last Is First

DJ Babu, Alchemist, Iriscience and Evidence return to shake up the underground one more time. While mainstream success continues to elude them, Dilated Peoples remain heroes of the club scene and forebearers of hipster-hop.

The Last Is First

Artist: Early Man
Song: Sinking the Blade

Stoner metal in the vein of Black Sabbath and The Sword, Early Man is one of the most exciting bands leading the charge of 70s style metal bands currently tearing up arenas everywhere.

Sinking the Blade

Artist: Jake One
Song: The Truth feat. Freeway and Brother Ali

Having spent the last few years producing for mainstream acts like 50 Cent, E-40 and Nas, Jake One’s first solo album is out on White Van/Rhymesayers, bridging the gap between the Seattle and Minneapolis underground and the already established LA/NY clicks.

What I’m Listening To In October 0

Posted on October 17, 2008 by jeremyazevedo

October’s CD releases in 20 words or less!

By Jeremy Azevedo
No matter how many unsolicited CDs I get in my mailbox every month, I try to at least give each and every one of them a fair shot at a review, no matter how much it may pain me to listen to some of them.

In the interest of saving myself a hell of a lot of work, I’ve condensed all of the reviews for the aforementioned albums to 20 words or less. Not only does this make my job easier, but it also makes the reviews more fun to read.

Oasis: Dig Out Your Soul

Remember when that dude jumped up on stage and punched Noel Gallagher right in the face? He totally deserved it.

Ying Yang Twins: The Official Work

Are these dudes retarded or something? They make 2 Live Crew look like KRS One, I shit you not.

Hollywood Undead: Swan Song

Like Linkin Park in “scene gear” and hockey masks. More of a brilliantly marketed product than an actual band.

The Answer: Never Too Late

This band not only looks like, but also sounds like “Stillwater”, the fictional band in “Almost Famous”. Which is rad.

Metallica: Death Magnetic

Sounds less like “Reload” and more like “And Justice For All”. As metal as four old-ass dudes can get.

Termanology: Politics as Usual

This dude has got production by DJ Premiere, Hi Tek, Alchemist, Nottz and Pete Rock on his album. Holy crap!

Pitbull: Krazy feat. Lil Jon (Single)

A generic Mexico Spring Break backing track over which Lil Jon yells “yeah!” and “uggghhhh!” Wait, is this from 2001?

Rise Against: Appeal to Reason

Melodic punk about bitches and money. Just kidding, it’s about animal rights, war protesting and other hippie stuff.
