If you saw our coverage from THQ’s Darksiders launch party, you may have noticed that THQ is really using sexto sell the game (despite Darksiders having maybe one ancillary female character and virtually no reference to sex whatsoever). Not that anyone’s complaining… That’s just a simple statement of fact.
Now Playboy is getting in on the act by inciting notorious game blogger/Playboy’s Cyber Girl of the Year, Jo Garcia, to act as a human projector screen for the game’s extended launch trailer. It’s a lot like one of those pictures from the 90s, where if you squint at it, you eventually see a sailboat pop out of the image. Only instead of some bullshit sailboat, it’s a hot, half-naked Playboy model. Is it “art”? Will it give you a “boner”? I don’t know, these are questions for someone far wiser than myself. Maybe you should just watch the trailer and decide for yourself:

These five Inglorious Basterds comic book covers, made up to look like throwback Jack Kirby style action/adventure books, have been making the rounds on the Internet over the past few days. It isn’t clear whether or not these will be the covers for an actual printed comic book, or just posters/promotional items for the upcoming DVD release. All I can tell you for certain is that they are awesome.
Quentin Tarantino has built a career off of a stylistic presentation of cultish nostalgia, and this artwork is another good example of that. Had I seen these prior to seeing the film, I would have assumed that they were from some obscure Sgt. Rock or Nick Fury spin-off that I’d somehow overlooked. The authenticity of detail is impressive. “Total Nonstop Action” wrestling may not be well known as the WWE, but when it comes to getting hot chicks to run around in their underwear pulling each other’s hair and body slamming each other, TNA perhaps is second to none.
One of their big stars, Traci Brooks, recently became the first “TNA Knockout” knockout to pose for Playboy. (Christy Hemme has also posed for Playboy, but this was prior to her signing a contract with the league). Although Playboy has decided not to publish the pics in their magazine (because no one reads it anyway?), they have instead opted to run them on their official website. Much to the delight of nerds everywhere, Olivia Munn will be appearing on the July/August 2009 cover of Playboy, giving dorks a reason to put down their video game controllers for at least fifteen minutes out of the day.
G4 was kind enough to post a sexy behind-the-scenes video of the shoot, which we have reposted for you here. Enjoy this sneak peak of the first issue of Playboy that I will actually purchase since 2000, when I bought the Chyna issue… So I could see how good their Photshop artists were at removing a penis.
