Join The Gang for another round of schemes, plots, and blatant disregard for moral centricity!

The new season of “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” has begun, and from what I’ve seen so far, it’s looking like it won’t disappoint. Many of you may have already seen “The Gang Exploits the Mortgage Crisis”, a premiere episode that seemingly sets the bar impossibly high. You’ve got your surrogate motherhood scheme, your fallen real estate market scheme, and even an old-timey duel right there in the first episode. How do you top that? Well, you’ll be happy to know that we’ve previewed several of the episodes, and each one is even more f**ked up than the last! (Which, in the context of this show, is a compliment.)

The Gang after running over some asshole bicyclist.

In Season 5, The Gang sort of runs out of controversial topics like abortion and gun control, and starts getting into some really weird shit. There is one episode in which they try and take a road trip, but keep ending up back in front of the bar like that one “Nightmare on Elm Street” movie where those mongo kids escape the mental institution or whatever. And I hear that there’s going to be a Muppet Babies inspired episode called “Sunny Babies”, although I can’t even begin to guess what that might be about. Maybe “Sunny Babies” will shed some light on why Charlie appears to be retarded, or at least provide an easy set-up for some really great child-molestation jokes. Who knows?

The Nightman Cometh: You throw David Bowie in there with a cameo, you got yourself a hell of a movie film!

It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia continues to have a more cultish audience than many of the less funny but more popular shows that are on TV these days. Maybe the time has come to change that? The more people that watch, the more likely we are to eventually see a feature film based on “The Nightman Cometh” (which would be pretty much the best anything, ever). If you don’t have premium cable, and “30 Rock” isn’t on, or one of those clip shows with kittens falling off of bookshelves and what not, then by default “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” is pretty much the funniest thing on television! Check it out Thursdays at 10pm on FX!
